JESSIE LEE DOREY ROBINSON YATES WISE, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, at the Heritage Center in Huntington. The daughter of Jessie Kennedy and Louis Henry Dorey, Jessie grew up in Newton, Kansas, and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Nursing. She dedicated her life to serving others. Through the course of her career, she was a doctor's assistant, a surgical nurse, worked Labor and Delivery and the ER both at St. Mary's and Cabell Huntington Hospitals. In later life, she taught Practical Nursing. Jessie was an Elder Emeritus at Enslow Park Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Robbie Robinson of New York, New York, killed in The Battle of the Bulge, and William Dunfee Wise of Huntington. She was also recently preceded in death by her dear sister-in-law, Charlotte Jane Wise of Huntington. Jessie leaves behind many cherished friends and loved ones: daughters, Jane Ellen and husband John George Hess of Huntington and Elizabeth Ann and husband Hayes Shelton of Elkins; grandchildren, Col. John Jason and wife Lt. Col. Stacy Hess of Barboursville, David Benton Billups of Richmond, Kentucky, John Andrew Hess, Esq., and his wife, Jenna Elizabeth Hess, Esq., of Huntington and John Ryan Henson of Elkins; and two precious great-grandchildren, Lauren Taylor Hess and John Lincoln Hess, both of Huntington. The members of her family would like to express their heart-felt gratitude to all the wonderful caregivers and friends who loved and supported Jessie during her stay at the Heritage Center. She was truly loved by all. A joint service is being planned to celebrate the lives of Jessie and Charlotte Wise for 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, at Enslow Park Presbyterian Church in Huntington. In lieu of flowers, donations to the church in their behalf would be gratefully accepted.
