Joseph Daniel Adkins Sr. formerly of Winifrede, WV, currently of Vincent, AL, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, after a short illness. He was born on January 4, 1966, in Charleston, Wv, to Roy C. and Rochelle Green Adkins. He graduated East Bank High School, class of 1984, and attended the West Virginia University of Technology, Montgomery, WV. He was the former Pastor of New Life Apostolic Life Church, New Martinsville, WV, and the current Pastor of the Vincent United Pentecostal Church, Vincent, AL, where he is an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church International. He enjoyed a 30 year career as a Letter carrier with the United States Postal Service, Charleston, WV. He loved to hunt and fish but the love of his life was his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a devoted dad, husband, friend, brother, and Pastor. His absence has left a big hole in many lives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy C. and Rochelle Green Adkins and brother-in-law Larry Daniel Harkins. He is survived by his loving wife of seventeen years, Terina Kay Adkins, his three children Joseph “Joey” Daniel Adkins, Jr, Kathleen Abigail Adkins, and Joshua Dale Adkins, all at home. Of his wife, Terina, he often said that when God let him find her, it was as if he were looking for the preverbal needle in the haystack, and he found it! Their marriage was a blessed union by God. His children were the brightness in his eyes and he loved them with all his might. He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Larry and Barbara Harkins; his brothers, sister, and various nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be Monday, May 30, 2022, at Life cathedral in Huntington, WV. Visitation for friends and family will be from 5 to 7 P.M. with his home going service starting at 7 P.M. Bishop Edwin Harper will be officiating along with Pastor Anthony Moss and Pastor Greg Hurley. Burial will take place on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the Rosemont Cemetery, Huntington, WV, with a private family gathering.
