Jennings Brunty, 90,
of Huntington, WV, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014, in River’s Bend
Nursing Home, South Point, OH. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM
Friday, August 22, 2014, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev.
Charlie Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery, Branchland,
with military graveside rites conducted by Veterans Honor Guard Post 16. He
was born January 15, 1924 in Branchland, WV a son of the late Ollie and
Annie Jane Clay Brunty. His wife, Sadie Osburn Brunty; a daughter, Dorothy
Jean Brunty; a daughter-in-law, Patty Brunty; three sisters, Ona Lutz, Leva
Varney and Jewell Dowdy; and a brother, Delbert Brunty, also preceded him in
death. He was a steelworker with Houdaille Industries for 29 years and was a
U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a Baptist by Faith and was a
member of VFW Post 1064 and American Legion 16. Survivors include: a
daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Dick Urban, of Huntington; three sons and
a daughter-in-law, Cardova “Pete” Brunty of Huntington, Michael and Kathy
Brunty of South Point, OH, and Bradley Brunty of Huntington; three sisters,
Georgia Albright and Lillie Adkins, both of Huntington, and Orpha Scarberry,
with whom he made his home; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Ruby
Brunty of Ypsilanti, MI; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and
great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will
be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Chapman's Mortuary.
