Obituary

Isabel Bryan
(August 12, 1919 - January 4, 2007)

Isabel Bryan, 87, of Huntington, left this world to join her husband, Rev. Henry Bryan, on January 4, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, January 7th, at Lewis Memorial Baptist Church, with Dr. David B. Lemming officiating, interment will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park.

Isabel was born on August 12, 1919, in Altoona, PA, daughter of the late Victoria and Alexander Abdallah. She was a graduate of Practical Bible College, in Binghamton, NY, where she met her husband. She served beside her husband in his pastorate at Walnut Hills Baptist Church in Huntington for over 40 years. She remained active at Walnut Hills for years after her husband’s death, until her own ill health prevented it. Isabel had a strong faith, which she shared easily with friends and family, and a warm congeniality that endeared her to strangers and loved ones alike. She possessed great humility and was always thinking of and helping others. She possessed great inner strength which helped her through life's difficulties and through a very difficult and unfortunate 2006. Perhaps this inner strength came from her mother who raised 8 children by herself during the Great Depression.

In addition to her husband, Isabel is preceded in death by all of her seven siblings. She is survived by two son Richard Bryan of Port Orange, FL; and Paul Bryan and his wife Edith of Basking Ridge, NJ, three grandchildren, Stephanie Bryan of Columbus, IN., Kimberly Bryan of New York, NY., and Richard Kyle Bryan of Atlanta, GA. A host of family and friends also survive. Friends may call from 4pm-7pm Saturday at the Ferrell-Chambers Funeral 924 20th St. Huntington and also one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Lewis Memorial Baptist Church or a favorite church or charity. The care and services of Ms. Bryan are under the direction of Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington
