Obituary
Joanne Bentley Scarbro
Joanne “Jody” Bentley Scarbro, 72, of Barboursville
went home to be with the Lord Sunday April 20, 2008 at Cabell-Huntington
Hospital. She was born December 2, 1935 in Lando Mines, WV, a daughter of
the late Alex and Lula Bentley. Joanne had retired from Bell-Atlantic/Verizon
Telephone Company after more than 30 years of service. She had actively
co-owned and operated Scarbro Mortuary (now Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home)
with her husband Windell Scarbro from 1970 to 1977. She was also a much
loved teacher's aide for the Cabell County Board of Education and was a
member of the Order of Eastern Star Marcum Chapter 8. In addition to her
parents she was preceded in death by her husband Windell Scarbro in 1988,
one brother Alex Bentley Jr. and two brothers-in-law, AJ Maynard and Jim
Collins. Joanne is survived by three sons; Wil (Linda) Scarbro of
Huntington, Brent Scarbro of Barboursville, and Forest (Nicole) Scarbro of
Hurricane, five sisters; Betty (Walter) Sprinkle, Kay Maynard, Peggy
Collins, Charlotte (Jim) Hall, and Naomi (Kirk) Cunningham, two brothers;
John (Barbara) Bentley, and Mark (Earlena) Bentley, six grandchildren;
Weslee, Adam, Hanna, Brooke, Bentley, and Benjamin, a brother-in-law Roger
(Wyvonne) Scarbro, nieces and nephews; Tommy & Kathy Sprikle, Rob and
Bettina Freeman, Jennifer Woods, Andrew Maynard, Kim & Greg Green, Ken &
Penny Hawkins, Angela Medina, Kelley & Scott Braley, Jamie & Scott
Fischer, Jimmy & Jennifer Hall, Kirkland Cunningham, Ben Cunningham, Anna
Cunningham, Lisa & Keith Hatfield, Johnna & Matt Cline, Derek Bentley,
Chad & Tammy Bentley, Craig Scarbro, and Jeff Scarbro, great nieces and
nephews; Holly Freeman, Jill Freeman, Drew & Tori Bolden Sarah and
Samantha Woods, A.J. & Lexie Maynard, Naomi Cunningham, Ashley Green, A.J.
& Gracie Medina, Taylor & Katey Braley, Brendan & Claire Fischer, Chase
Bentley, Jenna & Jacob Cline, Jon Jon & Jessica Hatfield, Mikayla & Alex
Bentley, and two great-great nieces; Mikayla and Josie Bolden. Funeral
Services will be conducted 1:00pm Friday, April 25, 2008 at
Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Haskell Farley officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodmere Cemetery, Huntington. Visitation will be
