Opal Juanita Jones
(June 20, 1923 - February 2, 2008)



 

Opal Juanita Jones, 84, of Huntington, widow of the late Delmer Pearl Jones, passed away Saturday February 2, 2008 at the Emogene Dolen Hospice House of Huntington. She was born June 20, 1923, a daughter of the late Charles Curtis Gilfilen and Erma Virginia Holley. Opal had retired from Cabell-Huntington Hospital after more than 29 years of service. She was a member of the 25th St. New Beginning Apostolic Church in Huntington, where she served on the Ladies Auxiliary and was a life member of the 1199 Hospital Union. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann Pace, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Jones. She is survived by three daughters; Patsy Wyatt , Karen Ward, and Mary Hicks (Ronald), all of Huntington, three sons; Charles Jones (Nellie), and Delmer Jones both of Huntington, and Gus Jones (Melody) of Coral Springs, FL, a son-in-law James Pace, one brother, Donzie Gilfilen, both of Hurricane, 11 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. A host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday at 25th Street New Beginning Apostolic Church with Pastor Norman Mills officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm at the Church located at 1002 25th Street. The care and Services are under the direction of Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington.
