William Meadows
WILLIAM "Met" MEADOWS, 87, of Huntington, W.Va., entered peacefully into eternity, Friday, December 27, 2013, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington with loving family at his bedside. He was born on February 22, 1926 in Huntington, WV, the second son of the late Virgil and Rhora Meadows. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Janie F. Thompson and Lillian M. Meadows; one brother, Virgil C. Meadows and a nephew, Thomas A. Trotter, III. William, “Billy” or "Met”, as he was known by family and friends, attended public schools in Huntington, West Virginia and graduated from Douglass High School. He worked briefly at the Frederick Hotel and retired from Owens-Illinois in 1991. Met will be most remembered for his generosity, warm smile and direct-to-the-point demeanor. He was noted for being a sharp dresser and always wore the best smelling colognes. Most importantly, he will be remembered for being the best and loving uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. He is survived by his loving sister, Artelia Trotter of Huntington, WV; nieces and nephews, Shirl Jean (Jerome) Wise of Detroit, MI; Charles "Buster" (Betty) Thompson of Huntington, WV; Dianne (Rance) Berry of Poca, WV; Tony (Doris) Trotter of Snellville, GA; Sharon Trotter of Columbus, OH; Sylvia Trotter of Snellville, GA; Barry (Joyce) Trotter of Norcross, GA; Todd (Tiffany) Trotter of Gahanna, OH; Kim and Kirk Trotter of Huntington, WV and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews. Services will be 12:00 Noon Friday, January 3, 2014 at Ferrell-Chambers funeral Home, with Pastor Reginald Hill, officiating. friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
