Edith Marie Johnson
(March 13, 1930 - December 13, 2018)

Edith Marie Johnson, 88, of Columbus, OH, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 at The Capital Health Scioto Community in Columbus, OH.  She was born March 13, 1930 in Covington, KY; a daughter of the late Newton Mayberry Johnson and the late Hazel Ford Johnson.  She is preceded by her parents; one son, Gary; siblings, Earl, Harold, Hazel and Larry; grandson, Isaac; and nephew, Harold, Jr.  Edith served as Church Mother at the New Millennium Church of Christ, Columbus, OH, until she was unable. While in Huntington, she most recently served as an Elder at the Encouragers’ Fellowship.  She was also a long-time servant at the First Baptist Church in Huntington. She retired from the Mildred Mitchell Bateman Hospital after over 25 years of service; being a staunch supporter of the Union in said hospital. She also actively participated in the Martin Luther King 1963 march on Washington while being involved in civic organizations. Survivors include sons; Randall and Michael; daughters, Shellie and Carita; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and a host of family members and friends.  Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., December 22, 2018 at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to services.  Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington.  A special thanks to the staff of Kindred Hospice and Capital Health Scioto Community.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the funeral home.
