Delmon Rickman
(November 30, 1928 - October 19, 2020)
Delmon “Bumper” Rickman Sr.
91,
formerly of Proctorville, OH, earned his heavenly wings on Monday, October
19, 2020. He was born on November 30, 1928, in Hellier, KY and was the son
of the late Robert Rickman and Tina Greenwell George.
Delmon was
preceded in death by his beloved wife of forty-nine years, Imogene Bernice
Clark Rickman; his son, Delmon Rickman Jr.; and his granddaughter, Kimberly
Harold Maynard.
Delmon was
a devoted father to two daughters, Linda Rickman Michael (Pete) of Milton,
WV; Shelia Rickman King (David Johnson) of Huntington, WV; and
daughter-in-law, Regina White Rickman of Silver Springs, FL. He was a
cherished Papaw to seven grandchildren: David A.Harold (Cat), Sherreé L.
King Jones (Chris), Scottie E. King Jr., Michael L. Rickman (Desirae), Myatt
L. Rickman, and Megan L. Rickman Brobst. He is also survived bysixteen
great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, his fur-baby -“Baby”,
his sister Nola Jean Cornwell and several nieces and nephews.
Delmon loved
spending time with his family playing games, sharing stories, telling jokes,
listening to country/bluegrass music and watching black & white westerns.
Delmon was
a Navy Veteran and a life member of VFW Post 1064. He retired from BASF
Wyandotte and Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was also a member Fifth Avenue
Freewill Baptist Church in Guyandotte, WV.
A public
visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m to 1:00 p.m, Saturday October 31,
2020 at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington, WV. A private family
funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m with Rev. Ken Toler
officiating. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service
in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio.The family is asking anyone attending
to please follow social distancing and CDC guidelines.
