Raymond “Jack” Harshbarger, 97, of Milton passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in Cabell-Huntington Hospital. He was born in West Logan, WV, a son of the late Walter and Maudie Baylous Harshbarger. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Jennie Lee Harshbarger. He graduated from Milton High School and retired from the C&O Railway Company after 40 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church where he served as teacher, clerk and deacon. Jack was also an avid golfer. He is survived by one son, Jack Jr. and his wife, Michele of Etowah, NC; three grandchildren, Dr. Raymond Harshbarger and his wife, Dawn Bentley Harshbarger of Austin, TX., Gregory Harshbarger of Etowah, NC and Renee Nikita and her husband, Marios Nikita of Astoria, NY; three great grandchildren, Jackson of Austin, TX, Kleopatra and Ephraim, both of Astoria, NY; one brother, Walter and his wife, Imogene of Milton and one sister, Dorla of Bridgeton, NJ; one special friend, Jack Black; and many golfing buddies. Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, where funeral service will be held at 11:30 with Pastor Mark Hesson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Heck Funeral Home, Milton is in charge of arrangements.
