Obituary

ELSIE JEWELL WHITE, 93, of Milton peacefully passed away on Nov. 5, 2005, following a long illness. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at Heck Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Bright officiating and the Rev. Brent Beckett assisting. Burial will follow in the Bicker Cemetery on Barkers Ridge Road, Milton. Jewell was born Jan. 15, 1912, in Hurricane, W.Va., a daughter of the late Joseph Willard "Pete" and Flora Ann Woodall Alford. She was retired from BASF and as a personal caregiver. She was a long time member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church of Hurricane, being baptized at the age of 16. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oval Lee White; three brothers, Homer, Willard and Bernie Alford; five sisters, Verba White, Velma Scarberry, Margie Barnett, Virgie Fizer and Gracie Alford. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis Jean and Floyd "Jack" Hickman of Milton; one grandson, Randy Lee Hickman; one granddaughter, Benita Lynn Ryalls, both of Milton; three great-grandchildren, Cassie Lynn Ryalls of Asheville, N.C., Zachary Brad Ryalls of Milton and Jasmin Lee Chaney Hickman of Culloden; and several special nieces and nephews. Thanks to Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation, especially to the employees of the North Front Hall and to Hospice Care of Kanawha County.
