Jack Pancake
(June 9, 1926 ~ August 3, 2017)
Jack Pancake, 91, of Milton, husband
of Betty Miller Sunderland Pancake, passed away on August 3, 2017 at Midland
Meadows Assisted Living Facility in Ona, WV. Born on June 9, 1926 in Milton,
WV, he was a son of the late Virgil and Delpha Richmond Pancake. In addition
to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Diamond
Pancake and a grandson, Jamie Bryan. Jack was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII
having served two enlistments, one in the South Pacific and one teaching at
the Naval Academy in Bethesda, Maryland. He was a member of the Milton
Methodist Church and served on many committees and boards. He was retired
from Union Carbide Corporation and assisted with starting up a new plant in
Brazil where he lived for a year. Jack loved hunting, fishing, and camping.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by one son, Allen Dane (Brenda)
Pancake; one daughter, Jackie Jo Bryan; one step-son, Michael (Marianne)
Sunderland; one step-daughter, Charlotte (Jeff) Sunderland Vossler;
grandchildren, Kelly Lynn (John) Bartenslager, Scott (Alycia) Pancake and
Corey (Tiffany) Bryan; step-granddaughter, Ammie (Jamie) Hiser and six
great-grandchildren, Kellen, Maggie and Isiah Bartenslager, Carley and Lily
Bryan and Lyla Pancake. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2017
from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Funeral Services will
be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial
with Military Honors will follow at the Milton Cemetery. Memorial
contributions may be made in Jack’s honor to the Milton Methodist Church,
Box 597, Milton, WV 25541 or to the Hospice of Huntington.
