He was born February 18, 1924, in Omar, WV to the late Amos and Lily Burgess Sullivan. Murrell moved to the Huntington area as a young man. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Thelma Holley Sullivan and one sister, Joyce Sullivan Gillette. He is survived by one son and daughter in law, David Murrell and Anna Sullivan of Barboursville, and one daughter and son-in-law, Mike and Donna Jean Sullivan Cihota; four grandchildren, Rebecca Elizabeth Cihata, Russell Murrell and Kathleen Marie Sullivan all of Barboursville and Jennifer and her husband Kyle Adkins; one great-grandson, Jeffery Michael Adkins, of Glenwood, WV; one sister and brother-in-law, Paul and Joan Flichinger of Hemet, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Murrell was a member of the Barboursville Baptist Church. He was veteran of the US. Navy Reserves, serving during World War II. He enjoyed golfing, boating and traveling, but most of all his family.
