Courtney Lee Short
1915 - 2007


COURTNEY LEE SHORT, 91 of Ona, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2007, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 11 A. M., Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at HENSON MORTUARY, with Rev. Paul Meadows officiating. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. Mr. Short was born on June 11, 1915 in Frenchburg, KY, to the late Lee and Linda Jackson Short. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Syvilla Gertrude Short; two brothers, Raymond and Denver Short; seven sisters: Icy Napier, Lake Cook, Vada Wallace, Ada Short, Hattie Gartin, Lina Dillon, Ona Toler and one great-grandchild Courtney Elizabeth Short. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Robert Lee and Sue Short of Milton, John and Naomi Short of Clinton Twp. MI, and Roger and Elaine Short of Man, WV; one daughter and son-in-law, Nadine and Norman Roth of Pasadina, CA; one brother John Bradley Short of Davin, WV, grandchildren and spouses; Robert Short, Roanoke, VA, Patrick and Tina Short, Clinton Twp. MI, Shelley Short of Milton, Kristen and Brent Loo of Oakland, CA, Dr. Brett and Rhonda Short of Ona, Brian and Michelle Short of Macomb, MI, and Holly Rae and Eric Blair of Marco Island, FL. Mr. Short was a disabled miner having been injured in a mine explosion in 1951 in Kistler, WV, at Buffalo Chilton Coal Co. He was an avid baseball fan, loved carpentry and Gospel music, and was of member of the Claypool United Methodist Church, Claypool, WV. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors, and a special caregiver Karen Eubanks. His smile, sense of humor, sharp intellect and love of life will be missed. He was a good husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and neighbor. We hope that everything God promised is true and one day we will see his face again. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 P.M. Monday, March 5, 2007, at HENSON MORTUARY, BARBOURSVILLE. Arrangements are being handled by HENSON MORTUARY.
