MARY MAGDALENE "MAGGIE" HOTSINPILLER ROWE
1926 - 2007


MARY MAGDALENE "MAGGIE" HOTSINPILLER ROWE, 81, of Barboursville, W.Va., born June 30, 1926, in Bridegport, Illinois, a daughter of the late George Washington Rolandus Hotsinpiller and Mary Jane Moats Hotsinpiller, both originally from Taylor County, West Virginia. After graduating from high school in Bridgeport, W.Va., she graduated from the Kroeger School of Music in St. Louis, Missouri. For many years, she worked as a secretary and in the Music Department of Grafton (W.Va.) High School and was the organist of First Baptist Church in Grafton, W.Va. While traveling with the Grafton High School Choir, she played on The Today Show and in the White House. She worked in public relations at Alderson-Broaddus College (W.Va.) while her husband, Rev. Harry T. Rowe, was Director of Church Relations there. She was active in the work of the American Baptist Women and was President of the ABW in both the Union and the Guyandotte Associations. After retirement, she remained active in music by playing and singing for churches and was a former organist for Henson Mortuary. She sang in the Marshall Choral Union for ten years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Robert Gough, and then just two months ago by her second husband, Rev. Harry T. Rowe. She died Friday, September 28, 2007, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. She was also preceded in death by one son, Lynn A. Gough, and two brothers, Arthur and Lee Hotsinpiller. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Gough Huff of Huntington, West Virginia; stepdaughter Mrs. Carol Rowe Newlon (Joseph) of Milton, West Virginia; two granddaughters, Mari and Jessica Huff of Huntington, West Virginia; and three grandsons, Luke Newlon of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Ben and Nick Newlon of Huntington; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Hannah Newlon. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2007, at Henson Mortuary, Barboursville, West Virginia, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Barboursville Baptist Church. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2007, at Barboursville Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Coster and Rev. Paul Meadows officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2007, at Woodside Memorial Park, Grafton, W.Va., with Rev. David Carrico officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rowe Family Scholarship at Alderson-Broaddus College. Henson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements
