Richard Kimm Desmond, 95 of Huntington, W.Va. died Sunday, July 2, 2017. He was born April 6, 1922 in Huntington, W.Va. the son of the late, Howard Lee and Bessie Smith Desmond. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Desmond; brothers, William Carl Desmond, Henry Jenkins Desmond, Allen Lloyd Desmond; sister, Elizabeth Georgetta Desmond VanHoose. He is survived by his son, Richard Kimm Desmond, II. and wife, Connie of Barboursville, W.Va.. Dick was a devoted grandfather of his two grandchildren, Eric Paugh Desmond of Huntington, W.Va. and Summerson Elizabeth Springer and husband, Bryan of Charlotte, NC. He was further blessed with four precious great-grandchildren, Brycen, Finn, Bennett and Evie Springer. Dick was baptized in the Baptist faith. He was an alumni of Huntington High School and the University of Virginia. His work history included the Sylvania Company of Huntington, W.Va, Pratt and Whitney of West Palm Beach, Fla, Sperry Rand Corporation of Charlottesville, VA and retired in 1990 from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with 25 years of service. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum; Huntington, W.Va. Entombment will follow. At the family’s request, memorial donations may be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, 3100 Staunton Rd. Huntington, W.Va. 25702.
