James Alva Cooper, Jr.
(August 11, 1937 - April 14, 2011)


James Alva Cooper Jr., 73, of Huntington, husband of Jane Cooper, died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, East Pea Ridge. Interment will follow in the Jackson Burns Cemetery, Culloden, WV. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time prior to the service. His employment experiences ranged from teaching in a one room schoolhouse to working in the family landscaping business to working in residential facilities for mentally ill residents. James was born August 11, 1937 in Guyandotte, WV, son of the late James Alva Cooper Sr. and Margaret Burns Cooper. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip and Ronald Cooper and by a sister, Margaret Opal Cooper. He was sometimes called “Little Jimmy” as a child and “Big Jim” as an adult. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. Klingel Carpenter Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
