Lois O'Shea

Lois Davis O'Shea, 93, died Saturday, Sept.15, 2012, at Huntington Health and Rehab. A lifelong Huntington resident, she was born Nov. 8, 1918. She was the widow of prominent Huntington jeweler, Harold K. O'Shea, co-owner of Wellman-O'Shea Jewelers. She was an avid Marshall Football fan with a particular passion for the defense. Her elaborate tailgate parties were the subject of several newspaper feature stories. She was especially noted for her fudge. She loved to entertain and was known for her big smile and big heart. The door to her longtime home in Huntington was open to friends 24/7. She belonged for years to the Guyan Golf and Country Club and earlier was women's golf champion at Spring Valley Country Club. She was a lifetime member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church. She served as president of the Huntington Jayceettes. Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were her mother, Marie Busick Davis Nagle, her stepfather, William R. Nagle; her father, Herbert F. Davis; and her brother, Herbert W. Davis. She is survived by her twin daughters, Sherry Wallace (Doug) of Huntington and Sandy Wells of Charleston; granddaughters Shelly Wallace Kelley (John) of Tallahassee, Fla.; Carrie Wallace Overby (Jimmy) of Huntington; Shea Wells Mulcahy (Kirk) of Fayetteville and grandson Shannon O'Shea Wells of Portland, Ore.; great grandchildren, Cody Wallace Kelley and Courtney Jacquline Kelley of Tallahassee, Keller O'Shea Stowers and Nash O'Shea Mulcahy of Fayetteville, and step great granddaughter Allison Shyann Overby of Huntington. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Huntington Health and Rehab, especially to Kenny, Joe and Sara, for their efficient and loving care. Special thanks also to Hospice of Huntington. Service will be at 2 p. m. Wednesday at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary in Huntington. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service in Spring Hill Cemetery. Contributions honoring her memory may be sent to Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church or to Huntington Hospice Care.
