Mabel Baker Jordan
(May 22, 1925 - January 16, 2018)



Mabel Baker Jordan, 92 of Bedford, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Spring House Estates of Bedford.  She was born on May 22, 1925 in West Logan, WV; a daughter of the late Willard and Nellie (Hopper) Baker.  She was the youngest of 10 children and was raised in Huntington, WV.  She was preceded in death by her three husbands: William Armstrong, Robert Baines, and John Jordan.  She married Attorney John Jordan of Bedford in 1981. She is survived by a son Wayne Armstrong and wife Sue Ann, a daughter Barbara Nolen and husband Richard, grandchildren Andrew Armstrong and wife Ali, Ricci Nolen, Aaron Nolen and wife Lisanne, William Jordan, Beth Jordan and several great grandchildren.   She also has numerous nieces and nephews living across the country.  Mabel was involved in numerous organizations including the Bedford County Fair, the UPMC Bedford Hospital board, the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, the St. Thomas School Craft Guild, and the Ageless Wonders.  She loved knitting, crocheting, quilting, and was an avid bowler.  In 2014 she was named Citizen of the Year by the Bedford Rotary Club and the Bedford Elks Club.  Mabel faithfully attended the Bedford Presbyterian Church. Although Mabel supported and was involved in numerous community activities, she may have been best known for her sense of humor.  She was always ready to tell a joke to her friends and anybody she met.  Mabel’s family would like to thank the staff at Homewood for the excellent care she received while she was a resident.  They would also especially like to thank her personal care givers who did such a wonderful and compassionate job:  Tammy, Sam, Amy, Mary, TJ, Maranda, Laura, Jess, Stephanie, Randee, Chrissy, Teresa and Tara.  Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2018 by Pastor Andy Magnusson at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, WV.
