RUBY BERNICE STEFFEN, 87, of Huntington passed away peacefully on Friday, November 30, 2018. She was born in Wayne County, WV December 5, 1930, a daughter of the late Edward G and Grace Akers Perdue. She was the wife of a firefighter, Captain Adolph Daniel " Danny" Steffen of Huntington. Married on January 10, 1948, for 37 years until his passing, April 30, 1985. She was the youngest of 13, preceding her were 4 sisters and 8 brothers and by her youngest daughter, Tamara Beth Sibrel. One of her happiest achievements is having a bridge named after her 6 brothers in Wayne County, WV. of whom she was very proud of as they served in various branches of the service during WWII. She was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church for over 70 years. She was employed by the Herald Dispatch and Marshall University. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Daniel Barry Steffen of Plano, TX, Marsha Blaurock (Michael) of Lexington, KY, Melody Steffen (Bill Scott) of Drummonds, TN and Shawn Steffen (Clarissa) of Wayne, WV. She is also survived by seven Grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Ruby didn't know a stranger no matter where she traveled. She graduated from HEHS in 1948 and continued to organize the reunions for over 60 years. She was involved with the Republican Party and wrote and published "Lil Ruby" Memoirs. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by Father Paul Yuenger. Interment will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call Saturday 11:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
