Elizabeth "Betty" Hall Short
(November 1, 1924 - July 19, 2010)



ELIZABETH ANN "Betty" HALL SHORT, 85, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Heritage Center. The Funeral Liturgy will be Friday, July 23, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Huntington, by Monsignor Lawrence Luciana. Rite of Committal will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington. Betty was born on November 1, 1924, in Bluefield, W.Va., the daughter of the late James Raymond Hobgood. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years Harold J. Hall, and husband Alex Short. Betty was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, retired from the Social Security Administration Hearing and Appeals Division, and she worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital. Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Lynn Hall of Virginia; four daughters and sons in law, C. Ann and Philip Reilly of Glen Dale, W.Va., Rebecca Gadell of North Carolina, Charlotte and Jay Brown of Huntington and Paula Hall of Huntington; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and Sister Rosalie "Rosebud" Belanger. Friends may call from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday and the Christian Wake Service will be at 4 p.m. at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington. Betty's life was greatly enhanced by the gentle care from the staffs of Pro Nursing and the Heritage Center Homestead Unit and Hospice of Huntington. Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace School, where her daughter is principal, at 640 Old Fairmont Pike, Wheeling, WV 26003.
