Roscoe Hale, Jr.
(September 23, 1934 - October 29, 2010)



ROSCOE HALE JR., 76, of Huntington, passed away Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Church of God by Dr. Gary Patton. Burial will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens, Huntington. Roscoe was born Sept. 23, 1934 in Logan County, W.Va., a son of the late Roscoe Hale Sr. and Nora Lea Elkins Hale. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War era. Roscoe earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Marshall University and his doctorate from Ohio University. He was the principal at Buffalo High School before moving to teach at Marshall University in the college of education, where he was also the interim dean of the College of Education. He attended the Trinity Church of God for many years, where he also served as a council member. Survivors include his wife, Betty Eder Hale; two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Verna Hale, and Jeff and Tammy Hale; five grandchildren, Zachary, Tori, Jameson, Madison and Mason; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Sandy Hale, and Roger and Katie Hale; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Lou and Owen Burkinshaw, and Beatrice and Frank Taylor; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Reger Funeral Home. Mr. Hale will be taken to the church one hour before services. Contributions may be made to the Trinity Church of God.  American Legion Post 93 of Kenova will conduct graveside military rites.
