Obituary
Harry Lee Tomlinson,
90, of Huntington went to be with his Lord Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at his
home. He was reunited with his wife of sixty-one years, Vivian, who preceded
him in death on Sept. 9, 2005. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m.
Saturday at the Jefferson Avenue Church of God by Pastor Greg Tomlinson.
Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. He was born Dec.
7, 1921, in Winifred, WV, a son of the late John Richard and Mauriza
Elizabeth Carter Tomlinson. He was a godly man of faith, who lived an
honorable and courageous life, and will be remembered for his unwavering
work ethic. An expert offset pressman, he worked for half a century for
numerous print shops, retiring from Champion Industries with 25 years of
service. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a long-term usher for
the Westmoreland United Methodist Church before becoming a faithful member
and supporter of the Jefferson Avenue Church of God. One of ten siblings,
all of which preceded him in death, he is survived by three children,
Priscilla Bocook of Paintsville, KY; Ty and Linda Tomlinson of Reynoldsburg,
OH; and Greg and Millie Tomlinson of Chesapeake, OH. Grandchildren include
Tracy Smith, Steve Tomlinson, Neal Tomlinson, Jennifer Upthegrove, Terra
Bocook, Bo Bocook, Matthew Tomlinson, and Natalie (Josh) Teague.
Great-grandchildren include Stevie and Andrew Tomlinson, Zachary and Gage
Smith, Preston and Macy Upthegrove, Isabella and Braedon Teague. Friends may
call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Reger Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers,
contributions may be made to the Jefferson Avenue Church of God, 2039
Jefferson Ave., Huntington, WV 25704; and Hospice of Huntington. Mr.
Tomlinson will be taken to the church one hour before the service.
