Robert E. Hickman
(July 1, 1940 - August 27, 2014)



Robert E. Hickman, 74 of Huntington, husband of Coby Clancy Hickman, passed away Wednesday August 27, 2014 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral liturgy will be conducted at 11 am Saturday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church by Father Paul Yuenger. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery, Huntington. He was born July 1, 1940 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late Edward Johnson Hickman and Hazel Ray Hickman. Robert graduated from Huntington High School in 1958 and from the University of Cincinnati in 1962. He was named Chief Pharmacist of Cabell Huntington Hospital in 1962, Director of Pharmacy in 1981, Acting Vice President of Administration in 1987 and was permanently named Vice President of Administration in 1988. Robert Retired from Cabell Huntington Hospital in January of 2005. Robert was a member of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, a member and past president of the West Virginia Pharmaceutical Association, West Virginia Hospital Association, American College of Healthcare Executives. He also served with the Green Acres Human Rights Committee, Huntington Rotary Club, Vice Chair of the Board of Goodwill, city of Huntington Foundation, Neighborhood Institute, Huntington Area Labor Management Council, American Lung Association of West Virginia, Loaned Executive to the United Way of the River Cities. Robert served with the Western West Virginia Chapter of the American Red Cross and he was a multi gallon blood donor with the American Red Cross. He was a long time parishioner and Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Fatima and served with Catholics for Christian Harmony Task Force. Robert was the 1954 National Marbles Champion and a member of RCFLZ. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a grandson Turner Hickman. Additional survivors include two sons Patrick (Holly) Hickman and Todd (Sandra) Hickman; four grandchildren Zachary, Taylor, Austin and Ridge Hickman; brother Dick (Judy) Hickman; two sisters Charlene (Clifford) Wilson and Nancy (Mike) McGraw; nieces and nephews Buddy Wilson, Linda Spangler, Danny Wilson, Jeff Hickman, Jon Hickman, Heather Davis, Ryan Hager, Morgan McGraw, Daniel A. Clancy, Daniel Clancy, Jennifer Clancy, Julie Clancy, Jere Clancy, Jordan Clancy and Katherine Clancy. Additional survivors include Ann Sullivan, Kelly (Josh) Esenbock, Josh (Megan) Hart and special friends Ted and Jamie Henry and Father Jim Sobus. Robert enjoyed his monthly poker games, annual fishing trips to the Greenbrier River and his spring and fall golf trips. Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church and the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Friday at the Reger Funeral Home.
