Robert J. "Duke" Simmons
(February 6, 1938 - March 30, 2015)



Robert J. “Duke” Simmons, 77 of Lavalette, W.Va, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at Noon Thursday, April 2, 2015 at White Chapel Mausoleum, Barboursville, WV. Burial will follow. He was born February 6, 1938 in Cabell County, W.Va a son of the late Charles and Lillian Rudd Simmons. Robert served in the U. S. Army, where he served as a tank driver, while stationed in Germany. He retired as a painter for ACF Industries with 30 years of service. He enjoyed gardening and spending time outdoors. Duke is survived by two children and their spouses. Charlie (Karen) Simmons of Lavalette and Konita (Mark) Coleman of Lakeland, Fla. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life. Bob and Bill Simmons, and Lance Coleman. He is survived by one brother and one sister-in-law Delbert (Deanna) Simmons of Barboursville, W.Va. Robert was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Rudd. He will be missed by many family and friends. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service from 11:00 AM until Noon Thursday at the cemetery. The family of Robert J. Simmons wishes to thank the caring and dedicated staff of St. Mary’s Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Reger Funeral Home, Huntington is in charge of arrangements.
