RUTH M. WHITLEY

Ruth M. Whitley, 84, of Ceredo, WV, widow of George Julian Whitley, passed away Saturday September 12, 2015 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Thursday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Jim Richards. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Kenova, WV. She was born January 5, 1931 in Vanceburg, KY, a daughter of the late Herbert and Trevia Hamilton Turner. Ruth was a retired nursing home administrator for the former Aivert Nursing Home and a past Worthy Matron of OES Marcum Chapter of Ceredo. In addition to her husband and parents she was also preceded in death by a son Dana Ray Walker; nephews who were like sons Greg Saunders and John Workman; sisters Shirley Workman Babb and Betty Saunders Meade. Survivors include a niece, two nephews and a special cousin all of whom she considered as her children, Paula Saunders of Ceredo, Kenneth Saunders of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Keith Workman of Flatwoods, Ky and Tim Hager; and her grandchildren Alexandria Saunders and Travis Saunders and Charlotte Stevenson. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at the Reger Funeral Home.
