Obituary
Cecil Travis, 93 of Huntington, husband of Polly Virginia Davis Travis, passed away Friday August 11, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Tuesday, August 15, 2017 by Pastor James Asbury at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Section of Docks Creek Cemetery, Kenova, WV. He was born June 26, 1924 in Wayne County, WV, a son of the late James William and Rosa Huffman Travis. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Virgil, Henry and Charlie as well as five sisters: Jennie,Tessie, Gladys, Susie and Hattie. Cecil was a veteran of the US Military having served during WWII and the Korean War. He was a retired employee of Columbia Gas and a member of VFW Post # 8429 of Ceredo, DAV Chapter #2 of Huntington, American Legion Post # 93 of Kenova and the Masonic Lodge #110 AF & AM Kenova. His survivors include, two sons and a daughter-in-law: Cecil Thomas Travis, and James William and Jennifer Travis. In addition, three daughters and two sons in law, Susan Lynn and Gary Arthur, Cathy Ann Sperry and Karen Jean and Larry Workman. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and a very special friend and caregiver, Melissa (Sally Gooden) Brown. Friends may call from 11 am until service time at 1:00 pm on Tuesday at the Reger Funeral Home. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Huntington.
