Charles
William "Bill" Wright
(January 1, 1940 - December 22, 2018)
Charles William “Bill” Wright passed
away peacefully on December 22, 2018 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Bill
was born in Ragland, WV on January 1, 1940, the second son of Donald C.
Wright, Sr. and Thelma M. Wright, who predeceased him. He was also preceded
in death by brothers Donald C. Wright, Jr., John David Wright, and James
Henry Wright. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wanda Jean Nichols
Wright, their daughter Kellie Rae Wright White, her husband Todd Curtis
White and their sons, Charles Curtis White and James Ray White, all of
Huntington, WV. Bill was educated at Chafin Grade School in Ragland, WV and
graduated from Burch High School in Delbarton, WV at the age of 16. He
attended the Bowling Green College of Commerce and earned Associate and
Bachelor’s Degrees from Marshall University at age 19. He worked for the
UMWA Hospitals in Williamson, WV and for Sherman Construction Co. in
Huntington during college. Upon graduation, Bill taught in public schools
at Lenore High School in Mingo Co. WV and at Grundy Junior High School in
Grundy, Va. His first accounting job was with R. L. Persinger & Co. in
Richlands, Va. Bill became a Certified Public Accountant in 1966 and a
founding partner of Trainer, Wright & Paterno, CPA’s in 1972. Bill was very
actively involved with the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’
Association, a group he joined in 1955 and served as a director for 23
years. He has owned horses since the age of 10 and only missed the breed’s
annual horse show in Shelbyville, TN once in 63 years. Visitation will be
held at Reger Funeral Home on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 5-7 p.m.
Funeral service will be conducted at the Reger Funeral Chapel on Saturday,
December 29, 2018 at 1:00 PM with the Reverend Dr. Jerry Wood officiating.
Private family burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of
flowers the family would encourage donations to the Tennessee Walking Horse
Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association or to the charity of your choice. The
family would like to thank the all the care givers and health care providers
for their tremendous level of care during Bill’s final days.
