Obituary
Ellen Frances Hazelett, age 79, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. She was born August 8, 1938 in Huntington, WV to Frank Eugene and Dixie Louise O’Dell. Ellen attended and graduated from Huntington High School in 1956 and first worked in the Insurance Industry. Later in her career she pursued her love for children and worked as a teacher’s aide at St. Paul Preschool until her retirement in 1998. On May 8, 1964 she married Ross Dale Hazelett. Together they had three children. After her retirement she devoted her time helping take care of her five grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was watching them play sports and growing up. Ellen also had a passion for cooking and was very active in the church. She was a member of Good Samaritan Church in Huntington. Ellen was preceded in death by her grandson Blaine Stephen Hazelett and brothers-in-law John E. McComas Jr., Ed Hazelett and sister-in-law Frances Holley. Ellen is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Ross Dale Hazelett; her sons Timothy (Samanthe) and Tony (Megan) Hazelett; daughter Melisa (Steven) Frye; brother Jack (Sue) O’Dell; sister Betty McComas; sister-in-law Merle Hazelett and brothers-in-law Tom (Carol) Hazelett, Lee (Mic) Hazelett, Hagar Holley, Jr., and grandchildren, Kinley Hazelett, Madison Frye, Cassidy Hazelett, Quinn Hazelett, and Taylor Hazelett. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM Sunday at the Reger Funeral Home. The funeral service following at 4:00 PM at the Reger Funeral Chapel officiated by Tim Hazelett, Pastor Bob Hale and Pastor Steve Sullivan. Family, friends, and others whose lives Ellen touched are invited to the Reger Funeral Home to reminisce, support each other, and celebrate this special lady’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in her name to the Good Samaritan Church Building Fund, 1610 Florence Avenue, Huntington, WV 25701. The committal will be at 11 AM Monday at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, where burial will follow. There will be no procession to the cemetery.
