Obituary

Sister Mary Edward Mack, SAC
(September 23, 1936 - November 30, 2018)

SISTER MARY EDWARD (Kathleen T.) MACK, SAC, a member of the Pallottine Missionary Sisters, died Friday, November 30, 2018 after a long illness, at the age of 82, at St. Mary's Convent Infirmary in Huntington, W.Va.   She was born to Fredrick Joseph and Elizabeth Daisey Mack on September 23, 1936, in Annapolis, MD.  She is survived by a cousin, William N. Daisey, III, of Bowie , Md; a sister-in–law Mary Mack and neice Diane M. Klukosky and two great neices of Laurel, MD.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Frederick J. Mack, Jr.   Sr. Mary Edward entered the Pallottine Missionary Sisters on February 3, 1956 in Huntington, WV.  She graduated from St. Mildred’s Academy (now St. Vincent Pallotti High School) in Laural MD.  She made her first profession of vows in 1958 and her Final Vows in 1964.  She spent most of her religious life in the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston.  Other than a year and one half at St. Vincent Pallotti High School in Laurel Md. and a few months in Florissant, MO and Richwood, WV, she has served at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV. After her first profession she worked at St. Mary’s  Hospital Business Office  from 1958-1970.  She returned to Huntington in 1973, where she served as business office supervisor until she was given the position of Internal Auditor for the hospital. She remained in that position until her retirement in February 2009. After her retirement from the hospital she served as treasurer for St. Mary’s Convent. Sister Mary Edward lived many of the corporal works of mercy by feeding the poor, visiting the sick or lonely and consoling those who were mourning.  She prayed much and had a special devotion to Mary, the Mother of Jesus.  Her health declined more after 2013 and by March of 2017 she had to move permanently to the Sisters Infirmary where she remained until her death .  Visitation will be from 9-11 am on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 in the foyer outside St. Mary’s Hospital Chapel on First East Wing.  Visitation will be followed by the Mass of Resurrection which will be celebrated in the Hospital Chapel. Interment will follow the Mass at Spring Hill Cemetery in Huntington, WV.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to a charity of your choice.  Reger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
