Obituary

Pastor Keith Wiebe Sr.
(April 3, 1945 - December 2, 2021)

Keith DeWayne Wiebe finished his race running into the arms of his Savior on December 2, 2021. God took him from this world to the next in an instant, without any suffering. Born in Liberal, KS, to Ernest and Dorothy Wiebe, he was the eldest of three brothers. Growing up on their family farm in the panhandle of Oklahoma gave him many wonderful memories and an endless supply of stories and life lessons for his children. At the age of 5, he trusted Christ as his Savior and began the eternal life he is enjoying today. While at a Christian camp during high school, he felt God’s call into full-time Christian ministry and the trajectory of his life was set. After graduating from Bob Jones University, he married Becca, who became his partner in life and ministry for the next 51 years before preceding him to Heaven 3 years ago. Local church ministry was his heart; he cared deeply for God’s flock and worked tirelessly to gently shepherd them. God brought him to Grace Gospel Church in 1987 where he served for 28 years. His love for God’s church and desire to equip her fueled his passion for Christian education. He provided vision and leadership both locally at Grace Christian School and nationally through his service as the president of the West Virginia Christian Education Association and American Association of Christian Schools. Even after retiring from pastoring, he worked to strengthen pastors through the American Pastors Network. His wisdom, level-headedness, and dedication to Biblical truth made him a source of strength for many. He touched countless lives with his patient ear and loving counsel. He will be remembered for his principled thinking, sense of humor, gracious nature, and most of all his deep love for his Savior. He was a giant of a man with a humble heart. Keith will be deeply missed and remembered by his sweet fiancé Becky Moir and his loving children Keith (and Kim) Wiebe, Jr., Maureen (and Rob) Van Den Berg, Elizabeth Wiebe (and fiancé Nathan Correll), and Susan (and Dan) Rundle; and grandchildren David and Danelle Wiebe, Katie and Olivia Van Den Berg, and Claire, Eliza, Ian, and Harrison Rundle. He is also survived by his dear father Ernest (and Mary) Wiebe, his brothers Lloyd (and Judy) Wiebe and Jerry (and Beth) Wiebe, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 1:00pm at Grace Gospel Church, Huntington, WV. Burial will be on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 10:00am at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.  Friends may call from 10:00am until service time on Monday at the church.  Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family.
