George Lewis Nelson, Sr.
(April 28, 1944 - November 13, 2021)

George Lewis Nelson, Sr., 77, of Huntington, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted by Minister Tony Clay and Bill Osborn on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 1 pm at the Reger Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. George was born on April 28, 1944 in Huntington, WV to the late Richard and Opal Geraldine Nelson. George retired as a machine foreman from Owens-Illinois after 30 years. He then went to work for Rubberlite where he retired from after 15 years. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by numerous cousins. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol Nelson; one son, George Lewis Nelson, Jr.; one daughter and son-in-law, Rochelle (Michael) Nelson-Harold; six grandchildren, Hannah Marie Nelson, Richard Blake Ellis Nelson, Jessica Caroline (Christopher) Mann, Cody Michael Elliott, Aaron Harold, Stephen Kenneth (Haley) Elliott; six great grandchildren, Klee Nelson, Kingsley Nelson, Piper Leigh Harold, Isabella Paige Harold, Tinsley Nichole Elliott, Rilynn Jane Elliott; and a host of cousins. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved the Lord with all his heart. Earth's loss is Heaven's gain.
