Wilson Carter Linda Lee McComas Wilson Carter, 82 of Milton, West Virginia passed away suddenly at her home on March 13, 2015. Linda enjoyed nature, spring flowers, Marshall University Football and NASCAR racing. She was preceded in death by her grandparents George and Margaret McComas, parents Henry Thomas McComas and Mirinda Imogene Powell McComas, husband Lt. Col. Walter Carter (Ret), and sisters Sarah Sue McComas Garland, Wanda Lou McComas Legg, and Karen Kay McComas Rhodes Rose. She is survived by daughter Susan Leigh Wilson Patterson Becka of Zionsville, Indiana and son John R. Wilson, Jr. and his wife Joyce Lynn Easter Wilson of Scott Depot, West Virginia; grandchildren Russell Locke Wilson of Cleveland, Ohio and Cassandra Mae Wilson of Scott Depot; her sister Nancy McComas Cargill; brother-in-law Robert Legg; nieces and nephews Scott Goetz, Sherri Legg Saunders, Christa Rhodes Dyke, Karen Ann McKinon, David Garland, Rodney Garland, Mark Legg, Robbie Rose and Trevor Rose; her grandniece Amber Saunders and grandnephew John Thomas Saunders. Special thanks to her doctors Stephen Smith, MD; Daniel Snavely, MD; and Anil Purhoit, MD. Special thanks also to her caregivers Debbie Jobe, Robin Woodall, Beverly Holley and Casey Woodall. In addition, special thanks go to The Reverend Pete Schoew for his counsel and friendship to the family. Linda was a member of St. Timothy's In-the-Valley Episcopal Church in Hurricane and Trinity Episcopal Church in Huntington. She graduated from Milton High School in 1950 and attended Marshall University. Linda was a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader and volunteered for youth sports and school activities in Milton. Linda served on the Altar Guild and Vestry at St. Timothy's, the Milton Women's Club, Covered Bridge Garden Club (Charter Member), VFW #9796 Ladies Auxiliary (Charter Member), Friends of the Library in Cabell County and was a Licensed Practical Nurse at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington in the areas of Urology and Pediatrics. Linda has donated her body to the Marshall University School of Medicine. A memorial service will be conducted by The Reverend Cheryl Winter at St. Timothy's In-the-Valley Episcopal Church in Hurricane on Saturday, March 21st at 2:00 pm. A visitation with the family will be held one hour before the service and one hour following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Milton Public Library; 1140 Smith Street; Milton WV 25541 or Peterkin Camp and Conference Center; 286 Clubhouse Road; Romney, WV 26757-7521. Donations to Peterkin will provide financial assistance for children to attend summer camp. Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
