Leonard Earl Markins
(July 11, 1920 - April 17, 2016)



Leonard Earl Markins, 95, of Milton, WV, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 in the UK Medical Center, Lexington, Ky. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, with Pastor Sam Morris officiating. Burial will be in Enon Cemetery. He was born July 11, 1920, a son of the late Samuel Markins and Hattie Perry Markins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Freddie Carter Markins, his daughter Janet Lynn Markins; and four sisters Margaret Stratton, Emeline Adkins, Wilma McComas and Anna Adkins. He is survived by a daughter Lois Weatherholt and two sons Sam and Kenner Markins; a host of beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren whom he lovingly called Ranch Hands. He left behind two sisters Helen Bledsoe and Mary Ann Scites. Leonard was a long time member of Susannah Baptist Church and also enjoyed attending Enon Baptist Church. He was retired from C & O Railroad with 36 years service as a Carman. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of the Minerva Lodge No. 13 A.F. & A.M. in Barboursville, WV. He had a great passion for trading livestock and attending all the cattle markets around the area where he was well known. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. Masonic graveside services will be conducted by the Minerva Lodge No. 13 A.F. & A.M.
