ObituaryThomas James Davis
Thomas James Davis, Jr., 81, of Culloden, went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2018. He was born April 8, 1937, in Bolt, W.Va. to the late Thomas and Julia Davis. Also preceded in death by brother Frank Davis; sisters Linda Esmond, Janice Hosfelf and Jessie O’Connel and son-in-law, David Shull. Tom retired from Engines Inc. and Rays Resources. He was a US Veteran having served in the Korean War, and a member of the Cooper Independent Church. He loved hunting and fishing but most of all he loved gospel music. For many years he played and sang in the gospel group True Light and the Teays Valley Boys. He is survived by two brothers Harold Davis and Chuck (Lanae) Davis; life long companion Launa Call Davis; children Loretta Chapman (Jim), Denver (Sherry) Davis, Arzella (Bill) Rice, Darlene Heaster (Bob), Pam Shull and Jamie Davis (Shelly); sisters-in-law Pauline Rowe and Ernestine Covert; grandchildren Amanda (Eddie) Ashworth Jr., Missy (Clint) Good, Joannia (Danny) Pritt, Sheridan (Brian) Boss, Ricky Chapman (Natsha), Melanie (Willie) McCallister, Shannon Davis (Jennifer), Yolanda (Vince) Simpson, Dominic Masone and Debbie Davis (Kevin Miller) that he raised as his own; 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, special neighbor Jeff Smith that he thought as his own son; life long friends Lloyd and Phyllis Rice. The family would like to send a special thanks to Oakridge Nursing Home and our sister Arzella Rice for the love and care you provided for Dad. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by Pastor Sonnie Sovine and Pastor Ronnie Brown. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton with military honors conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard. "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." John 14:1-3
