Calvin Hibner
(August 2, 1923 - January 16, 2013)


CALVIN HIBNER, 90, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at the Golden Living Nursing Facility, Morgantown, W.Va. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, W.Va. Entombment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Barboursville, with Military Rites conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard, Huntington. He was born August 2, 1923, a son of the late Charles and Rosa Davis Hibner. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Company 8 Engineer Squadron, serving in World War II. He also served in New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon. He was awarded a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. He married Betty "Mame" F. Hibner on April 29, 1949, who preceded him in death on November 2, 2012. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by son, Larry R. Hibner; grandson, Jerry D. Hibner; brothers, Emory, Marvin, Kennith, Edsel, Shelby and Clerance; and sisters, Ruby, Dorothy, Bessie and Rose Mary. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Pat) G. Edge of Bridgeport, W.Va.; special granddaughters, Elizabeth and Patricia Edge of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Barry F. Hibner of Virginia, Larry R. Jr., Chari Iams, Karie Winans of Missouri, Calvin Carlton Hibner, April Diane Hibner LeCours, Carol Nichols of West Springfield, Mass., and Richard (Ricky) Nichols of Cincinnati, Ohio; brother, Boyd Hibner of South Point, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Friends may call at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
