Obituary

VIOLET MARIE HYSELL
(July 1, 1930 - June 1, 2015)

Our loving Mother, VIOLET MARIE HYSELL, 84, of Ona, WV, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015, at Genesis in Teays Valley; having been born July 1, 1930 in Ona, the eldest child of Wilburn "Hank" Bowen and Zena Eloise Thompson and was preceded in death by our Daddy, Percy B. Hysell, Jr. in 1990 and two brothers Garrett and Charles Bowen. Surviving are her daughters, Anita Sutphin (Oley) of Hurricane and Joyce Blake (Danny) of Ona and was "Granny Violet" to four grandchildren and four great grandchildren: Kimberly Mays and son Jacob of Hurricane, Brian Sutphin of Florida, Andrew Blake (Kathleen), daughters Elizabeth and the future Sydney Grace of Huntington, Melissa Blake-Smith (Bradley) daughter Kristin Rose and son Christopher Matthew of Ona along with sisters, Ester Blake of Ona, Christine Maynard of Chesapeake and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mother worked as a medical clerk for 35 years; retired and enjoyed genealogy research for the next 25; was a member of the Barboursville Chapter NSDAR having served as Registrar, Regent, and Honorary Regent; was a member of the V.F.W Post 9738 Ladies Auxiliary. Mother's visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Services will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, June 5, 2015 at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Pastor Carl Merritt officiating.
