Elva B. Hensley Gibson, 87, of Barboursville, departed her earthly life on Saturday, June 4, 2022, in Genesis/Heritage Center. Elva was born in Cabell County, WV, on November 20, 1934, a daughter of the late Harry Lee and Mary Lucretia Ruley Hensley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Paul F. Gibson; a sister Hazel Lambert, and a brother Dewey Hensley; several aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Elva was a 1953 graduate of Barboursville High School. She was a long time member of the Church of Christ. She was also a homemaker and loved to cook large meals for her family. Her favorite color was purple and she would let those closest to her know it. She is survived by two daughters Brenda Gibson of Shoals, WV, and Mary Elaine Miller of Kenova, WV; and one son Freddie Gibson of Barboursville; two grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Wyngate of Barboursville, Heritage Center, and Amedisys Home Health Care for the loving care and compassion towards our precious mother. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, WV. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2022, at Christus Mausoleum in White Chapel Memorial Gardens by Minister Ronnie Wright, with entombment to follow. The family requests no flowers.
