Dortha Kathleen "Katie" Rife Benedict, 86, of Huntington, WV, died Sunday February 21, 2010 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday February 25, 2010 at the New Baptist Church (610 28th St.) with Pastors Trent Eastman & Don Walker. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, OH. Katie was born January 11, 1924 in Huntington, WV a daughter of the late William Harvey & Alice Pearl Marcum Estes. She was a retired sales associate from Sears and a member of the New Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband Benjamin H. Rife & her second husband Paul R. Benedict. Survivors include one daughter Sharon Rife Hoffer of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; one son William B. Rife of Myrtle Beach, SC, 5 grandchildren & one great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, 3100 Staunton Rd. Huntington, WV. 25702. Friends may call at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington from 6:00 until 9:00 PM Wednesday February 24, 2010 and after 10:00 AM on Thursday at the church.
