Veronica Bowles
(December 22, 1957 - May 31, 2014)



Veronica (Doll) Signora Bowles, 56 of St. Albans, West Virginia entered heaven on Saturday, May 31, 2014. She was born December 22, 1957 in Leslie, WV to Robert Luther and Georgia Jackson Winkfield. She is preceded in death by her father, her brother Dallas, her sister Janis and her brother-in-law, David Lee. Veronica was a graduate of West Virginia State University. She was an employee of the Charleston Job Corps as a campus inspector, Ticket Master as a training supervisor, and West Virginia State University Upward Bound as a math and science program counselor. Veronica gave service to her community through her gift of song. She served as a Deaconess and choir member at First Baptist Church in Huntington, Reverend Donte Jackson, Pastor. She was the 1st choir director of Temple of Faith Ministries in Cross Lanes where Bishop T.D. Jakes served as pastor and choir director of the Central Community Tabernacle. She was a member of the following choirs and choral groups: the Charleston Area Community Choir, Ekklesia Ministries, the Living Word Christian Center Choir, WV Technical College concert choir, singers, and collegiate Gospel Choir. She was also a member of the Living Word Christian Center, Women of the Word (WOW), Women with a Call International, and a Child Fund International sponsor. Veronica also formed a weekly women’s prayer group. She leaves to celebrate her home-going, her devoted husband of 30 years, Reverend Simuel Antoine Bowels, her mother, Georgia Winkfield; four sisters and three brothers, Victoria (William) Smith, Drema Winkfield, Joyce Lee, Sam Winkfield, and Wade Winkfield, all of Huntington, Vanessa (Larry) Sensabaugh of South Point Ohio, and Carl (Mary) Winkfield of Leslie, WV and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Home-going services will be Noon, Friday, June 6, 2014, at the First Baptist Church of Huntington, 801 6th Avenue. Friends may call one hour before services at the church. In lieu of Flowers, friends may make donations to Hospice of Huntington and Janis Winkfield Scholarship at Marshall University.
