Lottie Mae Cabell
(July 22, 1941 - October 17, 2019)



Lottie Mae Cabell, affectionately known by the world as “MawMaw” and “Granny”, 78, of Huntington, WV peacefully transitioned to her heavenly Father on Thursday, October 17, 2019. She was born on July 22, 1941 in Pikeville, KY to her late parents John T. Cabell, Sr. and Spicy Mae (Davidson) Cabell. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Carmen Renee’ (Holmes) Bass, infant son William Kirby, her siblings, Mildred (Henry) Lowe, son-in-love, Dorsey Bass, daughter-in-love, Denise (Hopkins) Cabell and sister-friend, Pastor Martha M. Johnson. MawMaw was a devoted member of The Glorious Church of God in Christ “1665” since 1971 where she faithfully served at the national, state and local levels as Mother of the Church, Evangelist, Sunday School Teacher, State Representative, Usher, Choir Member, Cook, and a host of other roles wherever she was needed. She was employed with Autism Services of Huntington for many years and was adored by all of her colleagues. She leaves to mourn her passing; one brother, John T. (Ute) Cabell, Jr., of Colorado Springs, CO; one aunt, Christine Davidson Layne of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Lina Adams of Huntington, WV; three daughters, Rosalind Holmes-Taylor of Dallas, TX; Alesia “LuLu” (Gary) Brydie of Huntington, WV; Robin (Jim) Lapsley of Huntington, WV; two sons, Anthony “Tony” Cabell of Columbus, OH and Daniel “Danny” (Denise) Cabell of Huntington, WV; a special son-in-love, Virgil (Teresa) Johnson; daughter-in-love, Susette Simms; lifelong friends, Constance “Connie” Crawford and John Bailey, and many sons and daughters that she has informally adopted throughout the years. Also surviving are the many grandchildren that love her dearly, Cameron Holmes, Tallice (Michelle) Carr, Tyrin Holmes, Sr., LaToyia Holmes, Shanee’ (Jabari) Moore, Lalicia (Jerome) Johnson, Jaysen (Tia) Lapsley, Byron (Orleta) Holmes, Sheena (Korey) Sawyer, Jarrod Lapsley, Joshua Lapsley, James “JL” (Rosie) Brydie, Danae Bass, Kaitlyn Brown, Steven (Janae) Sherer, LaKeisha West, Sharday Kennedy, and Shawnte Kennedy; great-grandchildren: Anitra, Tyrin Jr., Kayla, Deztinee, Tiana, Zyan, Kayden, Elijah, Abigail “Abby”, Seraphim, Isaiah, Zariyah, Zion, Sincere, Jerome “Romie”, Karlee, Alauna, Selah, Aliya, Aonestie, Jaricha, Joseph “JoJo”, James, Jace, Jabari Jr., Lyncoln, Rea’Yani, Rea’Jon, De’Aire, Te’Shon, Haylee, Joseph “J.T.”, Stevie; and great-great grandchildren, Jordan and Amir; special cousin, Cynde Wilkerson; nieces, Adrianne (Ronnie) and Jenna; nephews John “J.T.” III (Angela), Henry “Chuckie”, and Nigel; cousins and adopted grandchildren, including the Johnson’s, Felder’s, Fitzpatrick’s, Hawarny’s, Smith’s, Miller’s, Spaulding’s, and Wallace’s. Homegoing Celebration will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 25, 2019 at The Glorious Church of God in Christ, 1665 Tenth Avenue, Huntington, WV with Bishop Gary P. Brydie officiating. The family will welcome friends for the viewing from 9:00-11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Huntington, WV. The family would like to thank Dr. Mays, Dr. Oakley, Dr. Nadim Bou Zgheib from Joan C. Edwards Cancer Center, Kindred at Home from Home Healthcare Services, Cabell Huntington Hospital, GiGi and the Ovarian Cancer Support Group, Hospice of Huntington, Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Swing Therapy and Dallas-Fort Worth Swing Dance Community, and everyone that visited with MawMaw, brought her food, etc. We appreciate each and every one of you.
