Willie Jennings McCallister, Sr., 94 of Huntington, WV passed away, Monday, March 12, 2018 in Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 1, 1924 in West Hamlin, WV the son of the late, Rev. James William and Sarah Elizabeth Vannatter McCallister. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Louvenia Bias McCallister and his second wife, Thelma Bryant McCallister; sisters Geraldine Mitchell, Maxine Ricci, Madeline Cardwell and Violet Meade and brother Hansford McCallister, daughter, Su Jolley and granddaughter,Sherry Blankenship. He was a retired welder from McCorkle Machine Shop and also worked for American Car and Foundry, Polan Industries and Advanced Mining, all in Huntington, WV. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and member of River Cities Community Church. He is survived by his son, Willie Jr. (Amy) of Charlotte, NC and two daughters Phyllis Thompson of Barboursville, WV and Eloise Johnston of Buffalo, WV; nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at the Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center, Huntington, WV as well as Bellaire at Devonshire in Scott Depot, WV for their care and compassion. Should friends desire, contributions may be made "In Memory of Willie McCallister, Sr." to River Cities Community Church Benevolence Fund, 4385 US-60, Huntington, WV 25705. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary, Huntington, WV near Barboursville with Pastor Larry Greene officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the services on Saturday at the mortuary.
