Barrett Skoll

Barrett Skoll, 92, of Huntington, WV passed away September 15, 2012 in Lexington, KY. He was born on July 12, 1920 in Newport, VT., son of the late Oscar and Celia Skoll. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Elaine Rose Skoll and his sister, Sera Skoll. He joined the Marines in January 1942. He was a Sergeant in the tank battalion of the 4th Marine Division Company C. He saw action in the Pacific including Iwo Jima. After the war, he came to Huntington and started the business Veterans Auto Supply with his cousin Marshall Cohen. He was an avid golfer and had numerous holes-in-ones. He played with the same foursome every Thursday afternoon for many years. He was an active member of the B'NAI Sholom Congregation. He is survived by two daughters Diane (John) Sensenig of Lexington KY and Ronda (Ernie) White of Hatfield, PA. Six Grandchildren Scott Sensenig of Providencetown, MA, Kristina Sensenig of Lexington KY, Wendy Hawkins of Sulphur KY, Joseph (JC) Hill of Lansdale PA, Monica (Moni) White of Clermont FL, eight Great Grand Children , Joseph (LJ) Hill, Loren Marie Hill, Robert (Bobby) Hill, Ashley Simmonds, Renee Simmonds, Natalie Simmonds, Samantha Zimmer and William (Will) Zimmer who shared the same birthday and his passion for golf. Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 by Rabbi Jean Eglinton at Spring Hill Cemetery followed by a reception at the B'NAI Sholom Congregation. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that contributions be made to the Hospice of the Bluegrass in Lexington Kentucky.
