Dorothy Hood
(April 13, 1919 - July 20, 2013)

Dorothy M. Hood, 94, of Huntington, died Saturday, July 20, 2013 at The Wyngate in Barboursville. She was born April 13, 1919 in Huntington, the daughter of the late Mack and Addie Mays Adkins. She was a member of The Fifth Avenue Baptist Church and the Woman's Club of Huntington. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by her husband, Marshall Edison Hood and a brother, Emery Adkins. Dorothy is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Jeffrey E. and Linda Hood of Huntington and Stephen "Sam" and Martha Hood of Huntington. Four grandchildren; Elizabeth Whitney Gesner (Tom) of Huntington, Morgan Hood (Ellie) of Huntington, Derek Hood (Annie) of Lexington, Ky and Taylor Hood (Sarah) of Huntington. Five Great Grandchildren; Kendall, and Grant Gesner, Harrison Hood, Jeff, and Matt Hood. The family extends their gratitude to the Wyngate, Katie and Ruth Anne Johnson. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Woodmere Abbey of Remembrance by Dr. Allen Reasons. Interment will follow. Friends may call 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Abbey. Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary is assisting the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Huntington or the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church.
