Obituary

Nancy Jones P.
(
August 26, 1924 - September 24, 2013)

Nancy P. Jones, 89, of Huntington, loving wife and mother, died at her home September 24, 2013. She was preceded in death by William, her husband of over 50 years, founder of Benefit Plans Service, and her parents, Charles and Adrien Pitts. She is survived by her 2 sons, Thomas (Susan) and Peter, her grandson, Peter H. Jones (Whitni), sister-in-law, Caroline Groves, niece, Mary Anna Perdue (Bill) and their two sons, Jason and Todd. Nancy was born in Pike County, KY in 1924. She graduated from Virginia State Teachers College. Her marriage to William was in Huntington in 1947. She created a beautiful home there. The Altar Guild of Trinity Episcopal Church was one of her long term pleasures. In addition, she served the church as Acting Director of Christian Education for about a year and donated freely to social organizations such as the Salvation Army, Huntington City Mission, Ebenezer Outreach and the ASPCA. She enjoyed traveling with her husband in this country and abroad. Creativity was also her strong suit. She spent many years decorating doll houses. She had a well-developed sense of humor. Special thanks are due to Kay Moser, Helen Edwards, Luanne Holland, Amanda Martin, David Broughton and Tina McCloud her helpers and friends and additionally to Gentiva and Hospice of Huntington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or Hospice of Huntington. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2013 by the Rev. Chip Graves at Spring Hill Cemetery.
