Obituary

JAMES F HOFFMAN
(June 7, 1923 - January 31. 2016)


James F Hoffman, 92, peacefully passed away on Sunday January 31, 2016 at The Wyngate, a Barboursville, WV assisted living community. He was born June 7, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio and married Ursula Schomer in 1948. They lived and raised their family in Toledo until Jim and Urs retired to Fort Meyers, Florida in 1992. Jim and Ursula lived a full and happy life in Fort Myers until Ursula’s death in 2010. At that time Jim, suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, moved to Huntington, West Virginia to be cared for by his son James, Jr. and lived at The Wyngate until his death. Jim was an avid tinkerer and always had an assortment of projects in progress. As an active member of Saint Columbkille Catholic Church, Fort Meyers, Florida, he was very involved with the development and construction of the Memorial Garden, where he will be interned. Surviving Jim are his 4 children; James Hoffman, Jr of Huntington WV, Anne Hoffman of Park City UT, Michael Hoffman of Coatesville, PA, and Mary Pat Geoffrion of Newnan, GA; and 9 grandchildren, Christopher Hoffman, Jessica Murphy, Cody Evers, Erica Suding, Lindsey Hoffman, Erin Evers, Philip Geoffrion, Thomas Geoffrion, and Alison Hoffman; and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral Liturgy will be 9:00 am, Friday, February 5, at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church.
