Obituary

Nancy Jones (Jones) Goodman
(August 12, 1934 - July 7, 2016)



Nancy Anne Jones Goodman, 81, of Milton, WV, died Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, E. Coleman Goodman, which she was married to for 53 years in May 2011. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Lincoln Jones and Marguerite Barron Jones, a brother Barron Arthur Jones. Nancy is survived by her son, Mitchell “Mitch” Goodman (Allyson) and daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Goodman and three grandchildren, Danielle Kay Goodman, Drew Mitchell Goodman and Dianna Lynne Goodman and her dogs, Fritz V and Ava which she dearly loved. Nancy was a graduate of Huntington High School. She attended Miami University (Oxford, OH) and was a graduate of Marshall University with an undergraduate and master’s degree in Education. She was a substitute teacher in Cabell and Putnam Counties and several other local schools in Ohio. She was very active in the West Virginia Presbytery as a coordinator for the area of Presbyterian Women on both the local and State level. She was an avid member of Garden Clubs most of her life. She co-founded Heather Heights Estates Garden Club while living in St. Louis, MO and also a previous member of Azalea Garden Club and was a member of the Milton Garden Club. She was a member of the Woman’s Club of Huntington and served on several committees. Nancy is a Kentucky Colonel. She has also been active in the Milton and Teays Valley Presbyterian Churches until her health wouldn’t allow her to attend. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Marshall Health Chertow Diabetes Center or the American Diabetes Association. Funeral service will be held at 1pm, Monday, July 11, 2016 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary. Visitation will be from Noon until service time.
