Patricia Houvouras
(June 4, 1923 - October 27, 2016)



PATRICIA HUBBARD HOUVOURAS, 93, passed away on Oct. 27, 2016, at The Woodlands in Huntington, WV. Pat was born in Newport, RI where she met and married Andrew J. Houvouras (U.S. Navy) in the midst of World War II. Following the end of the war the couple moved to Huntington and raised seven children. They were married 57 years. Pat was a devout Catholic and dedicated much of her time to charities in our area including grade schools, the Tri-State Literacy Council, the Huntington Museum of Art, St. Mary’s Hospital, St. Joseph Catholic Church, and The Marshall University Foundation where she created two scholarship funds for disadvantaged students. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution with family roots in our nation’s founding. She had a great affinity for the ocean and passed that love to her family. Pat is preceded in death by her husband Andrew and daughters Amy Usher and Anne Houvouras. She is survived by four sons: Drew (Jane) Houvouras of Jupiter, FL; Tom (Denise) Houvouras, Rick Houvouras, and Jack Houvouras of Huntington, WV; one daughter: Mary (Jay) Noel of Lexington, KY; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be on Sunday, Oct. 30 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary from 5-7 p.m. Funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Pat’s honor to the Huntington Museum of Art or the Marshall University Foundation.
