Anna Porter
(November 10, 1923 - February 24, 2011)



ANNA A. PORTER, 87, of Sparta, Tenn., formerly of Huntington, W.Va., passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at the Life Care Center of Sparta. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Kenneth Young. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, W.Va. She was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Kanawha County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Ira and Eva Backus Lamp. She was a homemaker and a member of the Howard P. Hall VFW Post No. 1064 Ladies Auxiliary of Huntington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Dale Clary; two brothers, Ira F. Lamp Jr. and Richard Lamp; and three sisters, Juanita Holstein, Edith Chambers and Eloise Adkins. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Wayne and Stella Porter of Lake Linden, Mich., James Thomas and Rhonda Porter of Cary, N.C., and Larry Franklin Porter of Greenville, N.C.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Kay and Roger Clary of Sparta, Tenn., and Shirley Ann and Gerald Hartley of Branchland, W.Va.; eight grandchildren and spouses, Christina Lynn and Kelly DeWeese, Michael and Tracy Porter, Cassandra Slocum, Thomas Porter, Steven Porter, Dain Hartley, Willie and Leslie Stallard, and Kathy Powell; 14 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Basil and Freidrun Lamp of Oveido, Fla.; two sisters, Leota Rumburg of Copperhill, Va., and Vieva Bias of Barboursville, W.Va.; two sisters-in-law, June Lamp of Plaquemine, La., and Linda Lamp of Atlanta, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, W.Va.
