Obituary

Charles Golden Summers
(June 17, 1924 - April 13, 2015)



Charles Golden Summers, 90, of Huntington, passed away Monday April 13, 2015 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm Friday at Grace Gospel Church by Pastor Keith Wiebe and Pastor Jerry Matt. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born June 17, 1924 in Lincoln County, WV, a son of the late Frank and Clara Brock Summers. He was a retired employee of the Cabell County Board of Education and was an employee of the South Point Ethanol Plant. Charles was a veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII and was retired from the US Naval Reserves. He was a member of Grace Gospel Church. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three brothers Hubert Summers, Silas Summers and Paul Summers and one sister Lois Wendelken. Survivors include his wife of 68 years Dorothy Keeney Summers; three sons and daughters in law Charles Eugene and Laurel Summers of Charleston, SC. and Kenneth Edward and Linda Summers and Richard Allen and Marsha Summers all of Huntington; grandchildren and spouses Ben (Kimberly) Summers, Luke (Stephanie) Summers, Lisa (Eamon) Given, Kelly (Brian) Wise and Katie Summers; great grandchildren Gabrielle Summers, Noah Summers, Kyla LaRue, Kaleb LaRue, Olivia Given, Kellen Wise, Jennie Wise, Maddie Wise, Dustin Blevins and Autumn Summers; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6 to 8pm Thursday at the Reger Funeral Home. The Veterans Honor Guard of American Legion Post 16 of Huntington will conduct graveside military rites.
